ethical considerations of using social media

Image result for ethical issues social media     The image i found hits the nail in the head... is social media helping or harming our social lives?? some people say its the ONLY way they can socialise... is this because social media has taken over our lives that much that the thought of actually going up to a person just to say hello makes you uncomfortable? or is it just down to the fact that we can talk to more than one person or have a group discussion without even putting a brush through our hair or even washing our face?... is social media help form another reason for folk to be lazy or does social media help people. to be honest peoples opinions on this vary from one person to the next..

IS THIS MERELY A DISTRACTION TO WHAT REALLY MATTERS?
DOES SOCIAL MEDIA CAUSE PEOPLE TO BE EVEN MORE UNSOCIAL??

I guess in the reality of things this is solely up to you. live your life the way you see fit but always consider the big picture. Are you missing out while stuck to your phone or tablet?
also are you actually talking to the person you think you are? it is so easy to make a fake account....

this links to another blog concerning social implications http://theacademicsinvesitgation.blogspot.co.uk/2017/05/the-sociental-implications-of-social.html  which is a really good blog that goes into more depth on the social implications of social media.

Social media is generally portrayed as a positive thing amongst society but I think people tend to forget the ethical concerns behind social networking such as data sharing and fake profiles. What’s even more worrying is that young people are probably the most vulnerable when it comes to using social media.

When social networking no one can ever guarantee 100% that they are speaking to the person says they are...

How can we trust people through social media sites when it is so easy for them to conceal their identity. Further, what a lot of social media users aren’t aware of is that the space they are using is being observed by its creators. ‘Stalking’ individuals in real life and gathering information isn’t welcomed however it’s done everyday on social media sites, so why is it acceptable through the cyber world?

There is loads of opinions on this so please don't just listen to my point of view on this...below are links for you to websites and articles that will get you thinking about your privacy, consent to your data being shared and stored within social media.

This was a real eye opener of how consideration of ethics on social media can be misread and blown out of proportion. It just goes to show just how much of an impact inconsideration online can have, read the above link and see! Am I glad I'm not a massive fan of Social Media in any form!

This blog was interesting in the fact that it tells us the effects that social media is having on our society as a whole these days. I have had a look at the links and there is quite a lot of information for people to think about this issues that it has caused and still causing.

  3. I found your point about how it's easy for people to conceal their identities on social media so how can we be sure the person we're talking to but I always have a huge problem with claims like this, not everyone adds / follows etc random people they don't know on social media. For example I only add people that I actually know on Facebook, I only follow people I know on Twitter, Instagram etc. I'd like to hear anyone's opinion on this.
